Valdagno

Valdagno

Valdagno is a city of about 27,000 inhabitants, which covers an area of 50 km², with territorial height differences ranging from 214 to 1340 meters above sea level. It is famous for its industrial archaeology and known for its textile mills of the Marzotto family, present in the city since 1836. The city experienced a very strong industrial growth thanks to the wool industry. The hegemony of the Marzotto family led to the creation of the "Social City", a project commissioned by Gaetano Marzotto and designed by architect Francesco Bonfanti starting from the early '30s as a model of integration between manufacture and society. In the '50s, the Marzotto Award was established, which for about twenty years gathered in the city artists and internationally renowned experts.
