Marostica is a medieval town, which strikes those who approach it, for its profile of the crenellated walls, which embrace the hill of Pausolino. The still preserved upper castle situated on the summit of the hill is connected via walls with the lower castle. The two structures are certainly worth visiting, and a walk through the streets of this medieval village is not to be missed.
The central square, where the marble floor represents a giant chessboard, is unique in the world. Here, in the even numbered years the famous game is held.
The picturesque scenery of the square lends itself to accommodate various events. Every first Sunday of the month the antiquarian market is held here, which attracts hundreds of enthusiasts.
